Solid Wood Doors Solid wood doors are built from solid or veneered wood stiles, rails and panels. They are extremely sturdy, offering resistance to cracking or chipping, and have a pleasing aesthetic appeal. While generally the most expensive option, many buyers consider solid wood to be a good value due to their long lasting composition. Solid wood interior doors also offer great insulation and provide a natural sound barrier. Special sizes, woods and styles are available on special order. Solid wood doors are available as prehung units or doors only.
Solid-Core Doors Solid core doors are used in a variety of applications. Constructed of a solid wood frame with wood veneer or hardboard composite faces and a solid wood fiber core, solid core doors find many commercial uses in offices, medical facilities, industrial and retail. Benefits include durability, low cost and sound control. A variety of wood veneers and hardboard facing styles are available on special order. Solid core doors are available as prehung units or doors only.
Hollow-Core Doors Generally the least expensive option of the three styles, hollow-core doors are constructed from a wood frame, hardboard or hardwood surface and filled with rigid cardboard to maintain their shape. While lighter and less expensive than solid wood or solid-core doors, hollow-core doors are a common option for new homes or remodeling projects and are available prehung or doors only.
